The Changing Tides of Patent Law:  Recent developments and trends in Patent Law that affect patent litigation, prosecution, and contentious proceedings before the U.S.P.T.O.  Topics of discussion will include case law developments, the impact of the raised bar on Section 101, and the use of post grant procedures as a tool in conjunction with or independent from district court litigation.   

Krista Carter is Counsel in Kaye Scholer’s Intellectual Property Group. She is an experienced intellectual property attorney who focuses her practice on patent litigation, due diligence, trade secret protection, and strategic counseling for innovative biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and IT companies. She also has experience in licensing, antitrust litigation, and proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Joe Acayan is a patent agent who focuses his practice on patent portfolio development and strategic patent counseling for Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized companies, and startups in Silicon Valley. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a wide range of technologies, including digital and analog circuitry, computer architecture, nanotechnology, mechanical arts, cloud computing, and software applications.
