Employment Practices Liability Insurance – Preserving, Defending and Pressing Your Rights to Coverage
 
This webinar will cover the background and scope of Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) and the insurance coverage issues you need to know to avoid having an insurance company deny your claim or curtail your benefits.  The webinar will cover such issues as giving notice of a claim, responding to the insurer’s reservation of rights, preserving the attorney-client privilege, working with defense counsel, obtaining independent counsel, settling cases with covered and non-covered claims, maximizing recoveries for wage and hour claims, pressing recovery of punitive damages, negotiating with your insurance company, and building your case for bad faith claims handling in the event of a breakdown.

The California Supreme Court’s recent Quesada decision is a reminder of the power of California’s consumer protection laws, including the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) (CC §§1750–1784).

The CLRA provides for actual and punitive damages, injunctive, and restitution for consumers injured by certain unfair methods of competition or unfair or deceptive practices in the advertising and sale of consumer goods and services. In addition, if the consumer is a senior citizen or is disabled, he or she may be awarded an additional sum if he has suffered substantial physical, emotional, or economic damage as a result of the defendant’s conduct. This webinar provides an overview of the CRLA as well as an update to changes in application and practice of the CRLA.
